Colleen Blackard, A Rare Module

On a beautiful day in May, my studio was visited by the talented filmmaker Amen Obasuyi of Rare Module. We talked about my artwork, my technique, and plans for the large “Abandoned Series” I’ve now begun. It was then picked up by TheArtsandMusic.com and Major Curators, who made it a GIF!

The Abandoned Series:

My latest Abandoned Series drawing, Fate is now complete!

See the step-by-step images of its creation.

The “Abandoned Series” focuses on the artist’s experiences of sibling rivalry, heartbreak, and loneliness, expressed on a large scale in various media through the trials of a personified abandoned barn. It is also a haunting reminder of what could happen to our homes and ourselves if we don’t reverse the effects of global warming.

“Known within the art world as the most exciting and affordable way to add to a collection, Postcards From the Edge offers a unique opportunity for buyers to acquire original, postcard-sized artwork for less than a round of cocktails (give or take a martini). Each artist only signs the back of the work, and their name is revealed after purchased. With the playing field leveled, all participants can take home a piece by an internationally famous artist, or someone new to the art scene. Either way everyone adds a new treasure to their collection, while feeling good about supporting an important cause.”

One of my drawings will be showing, see if you can find it first!

Wish on a Winter Wonder Landscape at Gallery 77

“…I dropped off “Wish” a few days early with the curator so it could be included in another holiday event. I was nervous about leaving it at an event I wouldn’t be attending, so I asked some of the participating artists to also watch over it for me.

The next day, we were installing the show at Gallery 77 when my friend the curator told me not to be alarmed, but “Wish” was gone! It appeared to have simply vanished into air in a locked room…” Read More
